Businessman and martial artist get into the ring in Pta east
This is the Pretoria east version of Mayweather and McGregor.
Johan van den Berg (35) and Orestes Cangunga Dos Santos (27) will on this evening put on the MMA gloves in a boxing match to raise self-defence awareness.
Van den Berg is the owner of a security company in the east of Pretoria and Dos Santos is a 6 times world champion in Shotokan karate, judo, traditional and Brazilian Jujitsu from Luanda in Angola.
Van den Berg said at first he joked around with Dos Santos who wanted to train his reaction officers.
“I told him that he could have the business if he would beat me in a fight.”
He said the fight was arranged in no time.

“This will be the first chapter to create awareness in self-defence among the community and children.”
He said chapter two will be in two months. “After I have been trained by Dos Santos.”
Dos Santos, who started training in martial arts at age 5 said this was an interesting and exciting venture for him.
“This awareness initiative could be great to empower the community. People would be able to defend themselves without being victim all the time.”
Chuckling about it ahead of the fight, Van den Berg said this was the Pretoria east version of Mayweather and McGregor.
