COMPETITION: What’s new at the movies?
The thrilling new “natural disaster” action adventure, GEOSTORM, tracks events after an unprecedented series of natural disasters threaten the planet, forcing the world’s leaders to come together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe.

Four new movies are currently showing at Nu Metro cinemas in Pretoria this week. Two of the new releases are in the spirit of Halloween, along with a romantic drama as well as a spectacular “extreme weather” blockbuster in the multisensory 4DX theatre at Menlyn.

The thrilling new “natural disaster” action adventure, Geostorm, tracks events after an unprecedented series of natural disasters threaten the planet, forcing the world’s leaders to come together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrong – the system built to protect the Earth is attacking it, and it’s a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide “geostorm” wipes out everything…and everyone along with it. Dean Devlin (writer/producer, Independence Day) makes his feature film directorial debut with suspense thriller Geostorm, starring Gerard Butler in the leading role, and also featuring Oscar nominees Ed Harris and Andy Garcia.

Tyler Perry’s BOO 2! A Madea Halloween (16L)

This new comedy horror from Tyler Perry sees the return of his very popular and signature Madea character. Madea, Bam and Hattie venture to a haunted campground and the group must literally run for their lives when monsters, goblins and the bogeyman are unleashed. It promises to be another laugh-out-loud outing to the movies with this one, packed with a few spooky thrills.
Happy death day (10-12PG)

A college student relives the day of her murder, again and again—with both its unexceptional details and its terrifying end—until she discovers her killer’s identity.
