COMPETITION: What’s new at the movies?

Great tickets to be won this week.

Bruce Willis is back in cinemas with a hard-hitting action-thriller and a well-known local comedian directs a romcom – two of the three new movies opening at Nu Metro cinemas in Pretoria this week.

Death wish (18 DLV)

Showing at Nu Metro Menlyn Park and the VIP-complex at Woodlands

They came for his family. Now, he’s coming for them… Doctor Paul Kersey (Bruce Willis) is a surgeon who only sees the aftermath of his city’s violence as it’s rushed into his E.R. – until his wife and his college-aged daughter are viciously attacked in their suburban home. With the police overloaded, Paul, burning for revenge, hunts his family’s assailants to deliver justice. As the anonymous slayings of criminals grab the media attention, the city wonders if this deadly avenger is a guardian angel or a grim reaper. Death Wish is a dramatic thriller, filled with the kind of action Bruce Willis-fans expect to see from this box office superstar.

Catching feelings (16 DLNS)

Showing at Nu Metro Menlyn Park only

Johannesburg – a city pulsating with contradictions. The lives of Max, a cynical writer-turned-English-professor, and his beautiful wife are turned upside down when a celebrated and hedonistic older writer comes into their lives, pushing their relationship to the limit. This new local romantic drama (with a comedic twist) from director Kagiso Lediga also sees him in the leading role – alongside Pearl Thusi, Andrew Buckland, Akin Omotoso, Loyiso Gola and a host of other popular local stars. Show your support for local cinema, and go see this movie on the Big Screen.

The 15:17 to Paris (13 DLV)
