Five new movies start showing at Nu Metro cinemas in Pretoria over the Easter long weekend – and, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!

PETER RABBIT (PG LV)

Showing at all Nu Metro cinemas

Who said the countryside was peaceful? Peter Rabbit’s feud with Mr McGregor escalates to greater heights than ever before as they rival for the affections of the warm-hearted animal lover who lives next door. This animated comedy-adventure for the whole family to enjoy is based on the beloved novel by Beatrix Potter – starring Rose Byrne, Domhnall Gleeson, Sam Neill, Daisy Ridley, Margot Robbie and James Corden.

READY PLAYER ONE (13 LV)

Showing in the luxurious VIP cineplex at Woodlands and in multi-sensory 4DX at Nu Metro Menlyn Park

The new film from acclaimed director Steven Spielberg is an adventure too big for the real world. It’s 2045 and the world is on the brink of chaos and collapse. The people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe. When James Halliday, the creator of the OASIS dies, he releases a video in which he challenges all users to find a digital Easter egg, which will give the finder Halliday’s fortune. Unlikely young hero Wade Watts finds the first clue and starts a race for the egg, hurling himself into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery, and danger.

WINCHESTER (16 HV)

Showing in the VIP cineplex at Nu Metro Parkview only

Inspired by true events… On an isolated stretch of land 50 miles outside of San Francisco sits the most haunted house in the world. Built by Sarah Winchester (Academy Award®-winner Helen Mirren), heiress to the Winchester fortune, it is a house that knows no end. Constructed in an incessant 24-hour a day, seven days a week mania for decades, it stands seven stories tall and contains hundreds of rooms. To the outsider, it looks like a monstrous monument to a disturbed woman’s madness. But Sarah is not building for herself, for her niece (Sarah Snook) or for the troubled Dr Eric Price (Jason Clarke) whom she has summoned to the house. She is building a prison, an asylum for hundreds of vengeful ghosts, and the most terrifying among them have a score to settle with the Winchesters…

SUSTERS

Showing at Nu Metro Menlyn Park and the VIP cineplex at Woodlands

TYLER PERRY’S ACRIMONY (16 DLSV)

Showing at Nu Metro Menlyn Park only

A faithful wife would do just about anything for love… even support her devious husband for years against her better judgement. But then she expects and deserves the same kind of loyalty, because deception on his part may just push her over the edge… just like it did to Melinda (Taraji P Henson) in this psychological suspense thriller. Acrimony is American actor, comedian, scriptwriter and director, Tyler Perry’s latest offering and contains all the ingredients needed for an unforgettable blockbuster. Melinda is tired of standing by her devious husband, Robert (Lyriq Bent). She becomes enraged when it becomes clear to her that she has been betrayed and, because hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, decides to take revenge against the “other woman” (Crystle Stewart).
