Berg en Dal is the Kruger National Park’s newest camp, nestling on the banks of the Matjulu Spruit and surrounded by lush woodland. It is one of the most accessible rest camps in the Kruger, positioned in the southernmost region of the park and only twenty-five kilometers from the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport.
The camp was designed to offer guest convenience with a greater selection of accommodation options and facilities to be enjoyed.
Whether you desire is to be adventurous and camp out beneath the African sky or want the comforts provided in the bungalows, cottages, and guesthouses; Berg en Dal has something to offer everyone. It’s definitely a firm favourite amongst families and groups who require larger units. Many of the units at Berg en Dal can sleep as many as six people.
Berg en Dal is also well-equipped with a restaurant, cafeteria, grocery shop, internet cafe, gas station, swimming pool, conference venue, laundromat, various picnic sites, and barbeque facilities. So whether you wish to savour the gorgeous South African climate with an evening barbeque, or sit down and enjoy a meal prepared just for you – Berg en Dal offers you the choice.
The camp offers a variety of exhilarating safari activities – the option of morning, afternoon, or full day open vehicle game drives; guided bush walks which explore the various fauna and flora of the park, rhino perimeter trail camp walks, and two overnight wilderness trails. The bushman trail, in particular, is one not to be missed, hiking to a cave that is decorated with century-old San bushmen paintings.
The woodland area surrounding Berg en Dal provides sanctuary to a variety of species, including elephant, rhino, warthog, kudu, impala, reedbuck, and predators such as lions, leopard, and the endangered Wild Dog. It’s a high possibility that you will see the famous Big Five during your stay at Berg en Dal.
The area around the camp is also great for those guests wanting to do some bird watching, with over 500 species of birds to be seen in the Kruger National Park- one of Africa’s top bird watching destinations.
