AfriForum provides Covid-19 assistance packages to 58 schools

Several schools in Pretoria were over the moon after receiving packages from AfriForum containing personal protective equipment (PPE).
AfriForum’s greater Pretoria branches distributed 58 aid packages to schools as part of the #AfriForumStaanSaamvirSkole project.
Principal of Simon Bekker Primary School, Hendrik Olwagen, said the school was very happy of the packages received.
“We really appreciate their help. The packages helped a lot.”
Mayville Primary School principal Jacques Joubert said they were delighted with the aid as well.
“We are immensely grateful for this gesture from AfriForum. Money cannot buy what they did,” he said.

“In times when things looked dark, they came and brought light.”
He said they also received assistance from the education department. Anelize van Eeden, principal of Confidence College, said they were also very grateful for the help.
“We’re really excited for these packages,” she said.
Media spokesperson Carina Bester said the school aid packages contained Covid-19 handouts, face mask patterns, classroom posters, electronic thermometers, hand sanitiser and sanitiser stands. Some of the packages were delivered to Hoërskool Erasmus, Laerskool Du Preez van Wyk, Nooitgedacht Akademie, Aletheia Christelike Akademie, Laerskool Balmoral, Laerskool Simon Bekker, Laerskool Rayton, Hoërskool Wonderboom, Laerskool Pierneef, Laerskool Mayville, Laerskool Wonderboom-Suid, Laerskool Tuine, Hoërskool Tuine, Gekombineerde Skool Dirk Postma, Laerskool Menlopark and Confidence College.
“It is important that we join hands in supporting schools during the pandemic. AfriForum stands together for schools and sees these packages as a necessity for all schools to continue their activities safely,” said Sampie Steinberg, AfriForum’s district co-ordinator for greater Pretoria.
“We are pleased that our schools can assist in this way to help ensure the safety of teachers and learners.”
He said AfriForum has received many requests from schools.
“That is why our branches participated in the school project to ensure that learners can return safely to school to resume the 2020 academic year.”

AfriForum has already distributed more than 40 000 bottles of hand sanitisers, 8 000 posters and 200 thermometers to schools nationwide.
