Master newsman takes on DJ decks
Kennedy or better known as DJ Edit SA promises his debut single ‘Ko Davin’ will be “one of the hottest tracks of the year”.

Kennedy Mudzuli, an assistant editor at a Gauteng newspaper, was expected to take the music industry by storm with the upcoming release of his first single “Ko Davin”.
“Ko Davin is a celebration of the Tshwane nightlife. The idea was to tell the rest of the country and world that if you are looking for a nice time, come to Tshwane,” DJ Edit SA said.
He predicted the single to be “one of the hottest tracks of the year”.
“In this regard, the vibe at Vinne is one of a kind – the people, the music and even the scenery represents all that Pitori [Pretoria] is about.”
Although the Covid-19 pandemic threw a spanner in the works for DJ Edit SA’s debut single launch, he still believed music lovers will pump up the volume when the single is released next week.

“The dream was to launch Ko Davin to a live audience but I know Afro-House and music followers have grown accustomed to turning up the volume from the safety of their homes and that the single will be a hit regardless,” he said.
DJ Edit SA said he decided to make the most of the current situation the country was faced with and allow the music to speak for itself instead of postponing the release.
“When people are home under lockdown, it’ a perfect opportunity to browse the music stores for music they can enjoy during this time.”
Speaking further about the effects of the worldwide pandemic on other DJs and people in the music industry, the DJ added that virtual launches and/or parties would be the way to go considering the uncertainties of the future.
“Being a perfectionist, I would rather create the scene and do it well rather than just set up a camera and go live from a garage for instance,” he said, adding that with the right setup, it was the “way to go”.

“I believe that with the right distribution channels and marketing or promotion, the music will reach its intended recipients.”
While music had always been close to his heart, DJ Edit SA admitted compiling and completing the single had not been a walk in the park. He had many things to juggle, being a father of two, editing a daily Pretoria newspaper and serving at Grace Bible church.
“When something is important, you make time for it,” he said adding he also got his strength to be the best man he could be from God whose guidance he followed at all times.
He also emphasised his desire was to put out music which would make a statement and stand out instead of falling through the cracks.
“My principle is that if I can’t be the best at what I do, then I would rather not do it at all,” the DJ said.
“I come from a generation that knows only one way and that’s forward.”
