School calendar: When does the school holiday end?

Parents and learners are already counting down the final days of the April break — here is when the school begins again.

With the April school holidays in full swing across South Africa, many families are starting to plan for the return to routine.

According to the official 2026 school calendar, learners will head back to school on Tuesday, 7 April 2026, marking the start of the second term.

The April break, which follows the end of Term 1, offers learners a short but much-needed pause after a busy start to the academic year.

Schools closed on Friday, 28 March 2026, giving pupils just over a week to rest, travel, or spend time with family.
