Centurion Home Affairs office opens

Residents can now access Home Affairs services at Centurion Mall, where improved facilities replace an office plagued by security concerns, poor infrastructure and illegal sale of queue positions.

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has officially opened its new Centurion office at Centurion Mall, with the relocation expected to improve accessibility, safety and service delivery for residents.

Although the office has been operational since earlier this year, Minister of Home Affairs Dr Leon Schreiber officially opened the facility on July 30, describing it as another milestone in the DHA’s @home reform programme.

According to the department, the new office was established to make DHA services more accessible through modern facilities that are conveniently located and designed around the needs of the people they serve.

The relocation follows long-standing challenges experienced at the previous office, where poor infrastructure, limited facilities and security concerns affected service delivery.

The department also said the previous site had become a hotspot for the illegal sale of queue positions. In addition, the lack of secure on-site parking exposed clients and their vehicles to criminal activity.

It said the new office provides an accessible and well-equipped environment that supports more efficient service delivery while restoring dignity to the experience of visiting the DHA.

“The relocation of the Centurion office to Centurion Mall brings the Home Affair’s @home vision to life. We are bringing services closer to where people already live, work and shop, while ensuring they are delivered in environments that are safe, accessible and worthy of the people we serve,” said Minister Schreiber.

The Minister added that the relocation demonstrates how the department is modernising both its physical footprint and the way South Africans access DHA services through digital channels.

Schreiber also thanked DHA officials and everyone involved in the relocation for ensuring uninterrupted service delivery throughout the transition.
