AC-MS marks 40 years of excellence

Air Compressor & Mining Services (AC-MS) celebrated an extraordinary milestone on Saturday as the company commemorated 40 years of excellence at a memorable event held at Golden Pillow.
Bringing together staff from both the Polokwane and Rustenburg branches, the celebration offered an opportunity to reflect on the company’s remarkable journey and the values that continue to drive its success.
Founded in 1985 by visionaries Dennis and Isabel Eckard, AC-MS started as a humble four-person operation with a dream and unwavering determination. Today, the company stands tall as a trusted industry leader. Director Gail Wynne reflected on her parents’ legacy: “Although they are no longer with us, their spirit lives on in every corner of this business. What began as a modest venture became the foundation of our family’s future. This company is not only a livelihood, it is a living testament to our parents’ vision.”
Director Cathy Venter shared her memories of moving to Polokwane at age 14 as her family pursued their dream. She also honoured fellow director Thys Venter, who recognised the growing demand for quality mining equipment and support, leading to the establishment of Rockdrilling Equipment in 2000, further expanding the company’s footprint and capability.

For Venter, the celebration was not only about marking another successful year: “It’s about honouring the people and the legacy that built AC-MS. This milestone reflects the resilience and vision that define who we are. To every team member, past and present, thank you. Your commitment has built more than a business; you’ve built a culture of trust, growth, and shared success.”
The event featured motivational speaker Cobus Visser and his team, The Vikings, who led an energetic interactive drumming session, promoting teamwork while encouraging staff to defeat negative thoughts. Visser’s message: “Whatever it takes”, was echoed through wristbands handed out to staff as a reminder to keep pursuing their dreams.
