Hundreds tackled icy conditions at the Polokwane City Marathon, racing for Comrades qualification and a share of the R200 000 prize pool.

POLOKWANE – Hundreds of runners braved the cold on Saturday for the Polokwane City Marathon, held at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium. With distances of 42.2km, 21.1km, 10km, and 5km on offer, the event catered to both elite athletes and recreational runners.

As an official qualifier for the Comrades Marathon on June 8, the 42.2km race drew top talent from across the country, all chasing part of the R200 000 prize pool.

Despite freezing morning temperatures, runners pushed through, celebrating their hard-earned finishes with pride.

The day wrapped up with a high-energy aerobics session led by Peter Lebidi of Top Class Fitness.
