IPOPENG Social Club brightened the day for Molwantoa Kgolo and Shalate Community drop-in centres in Seshego last Thursday when they visited the centres to make donations to mark the end of Women’s Month.

The visitors donated R1 500 to each of the centres. More than 500 women from different parts of the province were part of the festivities at each of the centres.

Speakers included Connie Morgets, an Old Mutual executive financial advisor, who spoke about the economic power of women , and Rosie Wilson, also from Old Mutual, who spoke about the government employee pension fund, in light of the fact that a majority of the guests were government officials.

Adv Queen Seakamela shared her legal experience and gave advice on marriage issues. “I would like to take this opportunity to encourage you all to stay strong at all times and fight for your rights,” she said.

Television actress Lydia Mokgokoloshi said it was important for women to celebrate Women’s Month. “It is important that we as women we feel proud of ourselves and be role models to others,” she said. She further called on men to stop abusing women.

Ipopeng Social Club chairperson Mengy Motuku encouraged the centre leaders to continue their good work with the vulnerable in the communities they served. “We are proud to have people like you who are so selfless,” she said.

Shalate Drop-in Centre founder Dorah Semenya thanked Ipopeng Social Club and exhorted them to continue lending their support.
