“The trees are symbolic of the growth that pupils at Mokopane English Combined School (MECS) achieve.”

These were the words of MECS’ deputy principal, Mr Louis Cilliers, while celebrating National Arbor Week.

Cilliers said it was a fantastic day and great to experience such an exciting atmosphere at the school.

“The children really enjoyed thinking about their future and I am satisfied they were involved in the celebration.”

The gr. 9 learners planted a River Bush Willow and the gr. 10 learners planted a Wild Olive tree.

The school sincerely thanked the following sponsors who contributed towards the celebration: Mr Gerhard Meyer, Parks Division and the Mogalakwena Municipality.
