Keeping up with the times for 118 years

We hereby invite all our readers and advertisers to join us in an exciting new venture.

We hereby invite all our readers and advertisers to join us in an exciting new venture.

At Northern Media Group (NMG), we understand the needs and wants of the communities our readers are part of.

We also know that our flagship newspaper, Review, is a brand that resides within the hearts and minds of our readers and advertisers alike.

We know it is a name familiar on every level of our community: From those selling fruit and vegetables on the street corner, to pupils and teachers, to the business people who help to provide a lifeline for many in and from our area. It is and has been a household name – since 1895.

It is against this backdrop that we have decided to substitute the Limpopo Informant, with another edition of Review, with effect from October.

According to NMG general manager Hannes Cilliers, certain changes needed to be made: “Limpopo Informant has established itself as a well-known newspaper among locals in a short timespan. With the variety of so many local newspapers, however, many of our readers did not know that Informant formed part of Review’s stable, and due to this, the two papers became ‘opposition’ instead of supplementary reads”.

Even though the name Informant will no longer exist, the new formula will ensure more comprehensive and integrated publications.

“Review has existed for over 118 years – and that length of time speaks for itself,” Cilliers said.

“We thank all our loyal Informant readers for their support. We trust that the Midweek Review will equally bring you hours of reading pleasure”.

Review will now be published twice a week – a midweek edition on Tuesday, and your usual and favourite read on Thursday, in the form of a weekend edition.

As a loyal reader, you can continue to buy your favourite newspaper – still at only R3.

Coinciding with this big change, look out for our soon to be launched all-new Review website.

This means you can browse the internet for your daily dose of local news if you missed one of our street vendors.

Our new website will include a lot of nifty features, including a calendar for venues and events in the area.

This means great news and even greater accessibility for our readers and advertisers alike.

Pieter Meiring, NMG’s marketing manager, describes all the changes as a privilege: “In the words of Winston Churchill – to improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often”.

“It is a great privilege to be announcing some strategic changes to the Review brand.

“In these times when companies seem to be consolidating costs and downscaling, we have decided to do just the opposite,” he says.

According to Meiring, market research revealed that NMG’s readership base needed expansion, therefore the refreshing new look of newspaper titles, expanding the print order not just in Polokwane, but throughout the entire province.

This, says Meiring, gives our advertisers unparalleled distribution and readership.

So, why not join us on this fresh and new journey: We will continue to serve you, our community, as we have done for the last 118 years.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
