COMBRIC Pharamela (22) from Tshavhalovhedzi village outside Makhado has pleaded with the housing authorities to build his family a RDP house before his mud home collapsed on them.
His house, which he and his sisters inherited from their parents, was badly damaged by a storm nearly a year ago and seems ready to completely collapse at any moment.
Pharamela passed his matric, but was unable to pursue a career in public management due to a lack of funds. “If I could have furthered my studies, I would have been able to earn enough to build a house and support my family,” he said. His siblings are living with relatives in Johannesburg.
“Life has been difficult since our mother died, leaving us with nothing to help us cope,” Combric said.
He is living with a family friend who is unemployed and has four children raise.
Makhado mayor, David Mutavhatsindi, said he was not aware of the Pharamela family’s situation but promised to send officials to assess the situation.
