Business skills for Vhembe entrepreneurs

YOU have to be passionate and love what you do if you want to achieve great things in the world of business.

YOU have to be passionate and love what you do if you want to achieve great things in the world of business.

This was the advice given to entrepreneurs in the Vhembe district at a business seminar, the Wealth Creators’ Boot Camp, at Khoroni Hotel in Thohoyandou on Saturday.

The business seminar was spearheaded by motivational speaker and author, Kholofelo Pholafudi.

Pholafudi said it was time people had a reason for doing what they did, instead of doing things because others were doing it.

He said many businesses failed because people failed to motivate themselves and create conducivee working environments.

“We have seen that 82% of newly formed business fail to grow within the first year because people go into business, but do not know what they are doing.

“Never go into business to make quick money, because a business takes time and hard work to grow.

“Dedication is the key to success,” said Pholafudi.

He said people should change their perception that one cannot start a business if there they do not have capital to invest in the business.

“Entrepreneurs need to invest in themselves by learning and gathering information from experienced business people.

“If you want to become successful, you must start to associate with successful people. People who are not results driven, spend most of their time focusing on unproductive tasks, while successful people focus on productive tasks,” he said.

There was a question and answer session after the seminar, where guests could ask Pholafudi questions.

Hendrika Tharaga, one of the entrepreneurs who attended the seminar, said she had always wanted to meet Pholafudi and to learn from him.

“I learned a lot at the seminar and I know the lessons will help me grow my business,” she said.

The next Wealth Creators’ Boot Camp will be held at Eltasha Guest House in Polokwane on February 8.
