Activate your voice to receive monthly SASSA payment

In an effort to combat fraud, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will only pay out money to beneficiaries after a monthly voice activation.

Zwannda Kutama, senior communication manager at Sassa says there are about 268 000 beneficiaries in Limpopo and this initiative, called proof of certification is to ensure the right person receives his or her grant.

“Beneficiaries are requested to do a voice activation in the beginning of every month and only after the activation is done will the money be paid into their Sassa cards,” Kutama explains.

Beneficiaries can do the voice activation using the following three options:

• Call 082 12 77 from the Vodacom starter pack beneficiaries received when they registered. Select language of preference and follow the voice prompts.

This call is free of charge.

• Call 086 069 0714 from a Telkom line. Select language of preference and follow the voice prompts. This is a shared call.

• Go to the nearest Sassa office where an official will be available to help.

• Voice activation and fingerprint scanning can be done at Sassa paypoints.
