Officials warn of scam demanding traffic fine payments

The RTMC has warned motorists about a scam email demanding immediate payment for traffic fines. The corporation says it does not send fine notices via email.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has warned vehicle owners about a scam currently doing the rounds that demands immediate payment for traffic fines.

What the scam looks like

The scam email purports to be “official communication from National Traffic Information System” from the Department of Transport. It demands immediate action to pay overdue traffic fines.

The fraudulent URL address is natis.online.services. This is fake and a scam, and its connection is unsecured.

No fine notices via email

The RTMC has put it on record that the corporation, through its online services website, does not send fine notices to motorists.

Any fine notice received by a motorist purporting to be from online.natis.gov.za should be treated as a scam.
