Big Walk promotes healthy living

The department of sport, arts and culture hosted the provincial Big Walk 2014 recently.

POLOKWANE – The department of sport, arts and culture hosted the provincial Big Walk 2014 recently.

Led by the MEC for sport, arts and culture, Merriam Ramadwa and the HOD, Basani Baloyi, the walk was also used to launch the Inter-departmental League and Young Champion Games, which were also held on the same day. The Big Walk started at the Polokwane Cricket Club, went through town and returned to the cricket club for the Inter-departmental League and Young Champion Games.

Ramadwa said the day would encourage families, communities and athletes to actively participate in various sporting and recreational activities that would promote family togetherness and living healthy and active lifestyles.

The launch of the inter-departmental league, which is an initiative of the department of sport, arts and culture was to encourage inter-governmental relations, improve social cohesion and to promote healthy lifestyles.
