TWO men who allegedly killed a man before setting his body alight were denied bail in the Naphuno magistrate’s court last Friday.

Ngwako Lesley Molewa (25) and Phetole Aaron Malatji (19) both from Serare village appeared in connection with murder, rape, attempted murder and arson following the brutal killing of Masilo Makgoba (46) earlier this year.

Tzaneen cluster police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe said the victim was asleep next to his girlfriend when the suspects broke into their home.

“One of the suspects allegedly dragged the woman outside and raped her while Makgoba was killed and his body set alight,” said Ngoepe.

Ngoepe said the body was burnt beyond recognition.

The woman was admitted to hospital with serious head injuries sustained during the attack.

Molewa and Malatji were remanded in custody and their case was postponed to next Friday pending further investigations.
