Attacker left speechless after victim bites tongue

A 24-year-old rape suspect was left speechless after his 17-year-old victim bit off his tongue in Boyne last Sunday evening.

MANKWENG – A 24-year-old rape suspect was left speechless after his 17-year-old victim bit off his tongue in Boyne last Sunday evening.

According to Mankweng’s police spokesperson, Const Matim-ba Maluleke, the teenager was walking home when she saw three men, who were also walking along.

Two of the men passed her and the third allegedly grabbed her from behind and dragged her into the veld where he raped her.

After he raped her, the suspect reportedly asked her to kiss him, and when he tried to kiss her, she bit off his tongue and ran away.

She went to the Mankweng police station and opened a case of rape, Maluleke said, adding that the suspect was arrested the next day.

“The man came to the police station with his mother, wanting to open a case of assault. He could not speak so he wrote out his statement. When we perused the information given, we realised that this incident was linked to the rape incident.

“We called the rape victim to come to the police station and when she saw the man she immediately identified him as her attacker,” Maluleke said.

He added that the man who wanted to open the case of assaulted also recognised the woman as the one who bit off his tongue.

The man appeared before the Mankweng magistrate’s court on Wednesday and the case was postponed to a date later this month. He remains in custody.

Maluleke further made an appeal to any rape victims from Mentz to come forward to see if the man they have in custody could have been the one who raped them.
