POLOKWANE – Four men, aged between 18 and 22 years, appeared before the Seshego magistrate’s court on Tuesday after allegedly killing a 19-year-old in Seshego in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The teenager was allegedly hacked to death with an assortment of weapons by the men who were arrested. The are allegedly part of a gang called, Ditonki Dia Raga (Donkeys can Kick).
The deceased was certified dead on the scene by paramedics.
WO Mothemane Malefo, Seshego police spokesperson, said the gang is made up of young people who are donkey cart owners. “They go around harassing the community around Bloodriver. The motive for the murder is not yet established, but it is suspected that it was a turf war,” Malefo explained.
The suspects remain in police custody and the case was postponed to April 15.
In another incident a 26-year-old man was shot dead at about 16:00 on Sunday afternoon in Makgofe.
It is alleged that the deceased was sitting with his friends when the two men, both armed with firearms, approached him. “They allegedly told the man that they were looking for him and than shot him once in the head. He was certified dead on the scene by paramedics,” Malefo said.
A case of murder is being investigated by Seshego police.No arrests have been made yet, but the police are following leads and arrest will follow soon.
The police appeal to the public to come forward with information that will help them with their investigation.
