Juju wants to free Giyani

ECONOMIC Freedom Fighter (EFF) leader Julius Malema wants to liberate the people of Giyani from what he calls years of suffering under the ANC-led government.

ECONOMIC Freedom Fighter (EFF) leader Julius Malema wants to liberate the people of Giyani from what he calls years of suffering under the ANC-led government.

Malema announced this intention during an EFF mini-rally in Giyani on Monday.

He said the water problem in Giyani had existed for a long time without being attended to.

“It took them 20 years to build a pipeline from Nandoni to here. This is why you still don’t have water. As you celebrate democracy this year, you will be celebrating 20 years of no water. You can’t celebrate democracy without water,” he said, urging people to vote EFF if they wanted their problems resolved.

Taking a swipe at the Giyani Municipality, Malema boldly claimed Giyani was the most corrupt municipality.

“It’s the municipality that gives jobs to friends and relatives. Many of you are not working because the Giyani Municipality gives jobs according to surnames. If they don’t know you, you don’t get the job,” he said to the applause of his supporters.

Touching on the issue of the Mopani district offices being moved to Tzaneen, Malema said voting for the EFF would “restore the glory for the people of Giyani” by reversing that decision.

“This matter of the district offices being moved to Tzaneen is wrong. You must have those offices here to serve the people of Giyani,” he continued.

He said the EFF would fight to ensure that their dignity was restored if they voted for them.

Responding to Malema’s accusations, Giyani Municipality spokesperson, Steve Mavunda, dismissed the allegations as being untrue, saying this was just one of the election tactics meant to garner voters.
