POLOKWANE – In the third of a series of special municipal council meetings the new mayor of Polokwane’s appointment will be considered by the city council today (Thursday).

The identity of the new mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng, was revealed by the ANC last week. She is the managing director of her own consultancy business specialising in the development and implementation of corporate social investment initiatives for various companies and government departments.

Nkadimeng was employed in both government and the private sector for 11 years before starting her own company. She holds a BA HED degree from the University of Limpopo, then known as the University of the North, a BA honours degree from the University of Limpopo, a B Phil from the University of Stellenbosch, and completed an advanced management course at the University of the Witwatersrand’s business school in 2009.

During a short interview with Review she said she would give “all she had” in her new position as mayor.

Nkadimeng will first be elected and sworn in as a councillor before being officially elected and sworn in as the city’s new mayor.

She follows in the footsteps of Freddy Greaver, who tendered his resignation last Tuesday.
