No bail for suspected murderer

THE 27-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his pregnant girlfriend and her mother to death before setting his friend's house on fire last month appeared before Ritavi magistrate's court last Wednesday.

THE 27-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his pregnant girlfriend and her mother to death before setting his friend’s house on fire last month appeared before Ritavi magistrate’s court last Wednesday.

The suspect, Oscar Ngobeni from Mugwazeni village in N’wamitwa was remanded in police custody until August 28, pending further investigations.

Ngobeni is charged with three counts of murder and one of arson, following the death of his pregnant girlfriend Tinyiko Mahlahule (20) and her mother, Rachel Hlungwani (58).

It is alleged that the suspect went to his girlfriend’s house on the evening of June 19. They allegedly argued over money before he stabbed her to death. He then allegedly stabbed her mother to death before proceeding to his friend’s two-roomed house, which he burnt down.
