Muni manager cleared of fraud allegation by DPP

The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on October 23 declined to prosecute the Polokwane municipal manager, Connie Mametja following an allegation of fraud

POLOKWANE – The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on October 23 declined to prosecute the Polokwane municipal manager, Connie Mametja following an allegation of fraud that was investigated by them as, according to them, there was a lack of reasonable prospects for successful prosecution.

The fraud case against Mametja was opened by Glen Matsaung, a property developer in the city.

The fraud case related to the alleged furnishing of fraudulent. special powers of attorney signed on October 26, 2012 in connection with a bid to develop a Motor City on the Modjadjiskloof road on the outskirts of Polokwane.
According to municipal spokesperson, Tidimalo Chuene, the case was fully investigated and sent to the DPP.

“The prosecutor declined to prosecute, and the municipality welcomes this decision,” Chuene explained.
