Town receives minister’s attention

LOUIS TRICHARDT – The continuous efforts of AfriForum chairperson, Wally Schultz, to ensure that residents received service from the municipality, bore fruit recently when cooperative governance and traditional affairs minister, Pravin Gordhan, tasked a senior manager from his department to go and assess the situation in the town.

Schultz said Sandile Ndlovu arrived for their appointment on time and spent most of the day with him making copious notes on the many grievances residents and businesspeople had regarding local government.

Schultz added that he felt very positive over the visit.

“Louis Trichardt has had problems with water, sewage and the drilling of boreholes for years. I decided to try and make a difference. It has been a long battle with the Vhembe District Municipality and there were times that I wanted to walk away from it all,” Schultz said.

“I decided to go to the top because of late, matters have become intolerable,” he explained. According to Schultz Ndlovu promised swift action would be taken.

By the time of going to print, the Vhembe District Municipality had not given comment on the matter.
