Phundi Mtya-Matlala, the wife of murdered towing industry businessman, "General" Morgan Matlala appeared before the Polokwane magistrate's court on a charge of being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
POLOKWANE – South African Music Awards afro-jazz winner, Phundi Mtya-Matlala, the wife of murdered towing industry businessman, “General” Morgan Matlala appeared before the Polokwane magistrate’s court last Friday on a charge of being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
This was confirmed by provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronél Otto, who said a police investigation involving KMM Towing, the company that belonged to Mtya-Matlala’s husband, had been ongoing since his death.
Otto said a police raid was done on Matlala’s business premises shortly after his murder and suspected stolen vehicles, unlicensed firearms and several other suspected stolen items were seized.
She confirmed the raid took place after the police received information that there were stolen vehicles and other items at Matlala’s business premises.
Mtya-Matlala was granted bail of R2 000 and was due to appear before court again on April 30.
Otto confirmed that the matter was being further investigated, and said that more arrests could be expected.
She further said no arrests had been made as yet in Matlala’s murder case.
