Water shortage alert

There will be a six hours shutdown at the Olifantspoort Plant tomorrow which can lead to some areas experiencing low pressure or no supply of water.

POLOKWANE – There will be a six hours shutdown at the Olifantspoort Plant tomorrow which can lead to some areas experiencing low pressure or no supply of water.

The shutdown is to allow Eskom to carry out planned electrical maintenance on pump station two, which is located at Lebowakgomo show grounds.

Tidimalo Chuene, a municipal spokesperson said reservoir levels are expected to drop significantly during the shutdown period and can lead to some areas experiencing low pressure and no supply of water.

“Lepelle Northern Water has undertaken to run two pumps after the shutdown to build up water levels in affected areas.

It is not yet determined which areas will be affected. The drop in reservoir levels will determined by water usage,” Chuene said.
