Westenburg roadworks: tarring to continue soon

The municipality is busy with the second half of the roadworks in Ben Harris Street in Westenburg.

POLOKWANE – The municipality is busy with the second half of the roadworks in Ben Harris Street in Westenburg.

The roadworks started last week and start at the entrance of Westenburg, ending at the entrance of the RDP section of Westenburg next to the Lawton Bridge.

The one lane was closed and the road was dug up, filled with grit and other material, but the road has not been tarred yet.

The contractor appointed by the municipality is still busy levelling the road before tarring can take place.

Meanwhile the municipality urged motorists to please be patient as the roadworks continued in Westenburg.

Mantlako Sebaka, spokesperson for municipal transport services, said Ben Harris Street was one of the streets developed as part of the first phase upgrading of a multi-year project for the Integrated Rapid Transport System (IRPTS) infrastructure network.

Sebaka confirmed that roadworks in Westenburg and other parts of the city would be finalised by June 30.

He said the finished road would be well worth the wait.
