Facts on drug abuse and how to get help

Polokwane police are taking the fight against drugs to the streets with the distribution of information pamphlets on the facts about drugs.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane police are taking the fight against drugs to the streets with the distribution of information pamphlets on the facts about drugs.

These pamphlets contain the following information about drugs: the different types of drugs, their side effects and physical symptoms related to the drugs, as well as the dangers of using drugs.

The pamphlets also contain some information on what drugs actually do to the body and inform the public about the pretty lies that the sellers can tell to dupe you into buying illegal drugs.

At the back of the pamphlet, there are several contact numbers to contact when struggling with drug addiction.

According to Polokwane police spokesperson, Capt Ntobeng Phala, the pamphlets were handed out during door- to-door campaigns, school visits and other drug awareness projects.

Provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto said all these pamphlets were also accessible on the SAPS website at www.saps.gov.za.

“Being proactive is one of the best ways that the police service can confront the problems arising from drug dealing and abuse. Knowledge is power and the more people know about these things, the better response there will be from the community by working together with us, eradicating drugs from South African homes and streets,” Phala said.
