Two Limpopo mayors recalled
The ANC in Limpopo has recalled the mayor of Mogalakwena Local Municipality and Blouberg Local Municipality.
LIMPOPO – The ANC in Limpopo has recalled two mayors on Monday.
Thlalefi Mashamaite, mayor of Mogalakwena Local Municipality and Serite Sekgoloane, mayor of Blouberg Local Municipality have been recalled according to SABC News.
The Mogalakwena municipality has been plagued by political infighting and court battles due to two ANC factions within the municipality fighting over the running of the institution.
The municipal workers’ strike at the Blouberg local municipality in Limpopo has entered its second week. Some workers affiliated to South African Municipal Workers’ Union at Blouberg municipality have downed tools since last week in protest against corruption, nepotism, maladministration.
The ANC’s Limpopo secretary Knocks Seabi said they took the decision in preparation for the Local Government Elections.
“In the two municipalities, there’s been instability for some time and while we are working towards stabilising the municipality we need fresh ideas as we prepare for next year’s Local Government Election. It will enhance the political leadership.”
