LITTLE PINK FEET: Tiago – God’s left hand
Tiago was born three months ago, and has become the apple of his parents' eye. "He weighed 3,6kg and was 51cm tall. He was our honeymoon baby," Bronwyn says.
POLOKWANE – Born to be a warrior, Tiago Serradinho seems set on living up to his name, which not only means “God’s left hand”, but also, according to his parents, Bronwyn and Greg, “God’s creativity” or “God’s warrior”.
Tiago was born three months ago, and has become the apple of his parents’ eye. “He weighed 3,6kg and was 51cm tall. He was our honeymoon baby,” Bronwyn says.
“I had a really easy pregnancy. In the beginning I did crave salt and vinegar Pringles for a while but Greg craved sweets and chocolates a lot. I couldn’t stand meat; I could not even cook it for Greg.”
Bronwyn explained that since they were from Pretoria and most of their friends still lived there, she organised her own baby shower in Pretoria.
“When she realised she was pregnant, I was the first person she told. I was so very happy and she cried from happiness,” Greg says.
The first thing they bought, after waiting to find out if the baby was a boy or a girl, was an Adidas tracksuit with tekkies and all the necessary accessories.
“Since I studied education, I had a fair idea of what was waiting for me, so I was not scared at all. Greg was most supportive during the pregnancy and I really appreciated it,” Bronwyn adds.
Bronwyn says although she looked like what felt like an elephant, she had high cholesterol and swollen feet, it was still an easy pregnancy and following his birth, Tiago was also an easy baby.
Bath time was a challenge at the beginning, but now everyone enjoys it.
“We had chosen his name long before he was conceived,” Greg explains.
“Four years ago we agreed that we love the name Tiago, and so we decided to name him that.
“His second name is Alonso, after the Formula One race driver,” Greg continues.
Bronwyn further explained that although Tiago changed their lives a lot, he is a pleasure to have around. “We do not have time for boot camp or gym anymore, but we sleep well. He sleeps in his own room, which is decorated in a sailor theme.”
