POLOKWANE – Polokwane police spokesperson, Capt Ntobeng Phala urges residents to be aware of their surroundings at all times.
He says there has been a rise in various crimes in the city, ranging from muggings to housebreakings.
At the last meeting of the community policing forum (CPF) held at the Polokwane police station a month ago, it was reported that several areas in the city fell victim to robbery.
During the meeting, CPF members called on the Polokwane Municipality to cut the grass in open velds and residential areas as these served as hiding places for criminals.
Phala also urged residents to get involved in their local CPFs and know who to call in an emergency.
In order to create awareness, the various CPFs launched a door-to-door campaign, which started yesterday (Monday) and ends today (Tuesday).
A general CPF meeting will be held today (Tuesday) at the Polokwane police station at 18:00, where different matters will be discussed.
