LOUIS TRICHARDT – Almost three years after winning two landmark high court cases against the Vhembe District Municipality (VDM) that compelled them to deliver a consistent water supply to Louis Trichardt, AfriForum says it has run out of patience with the municipality’s consistent failure to comply with these court orders.
AfriForum Louis Trichardt chairperson, Wally Schultz, said he watched with increasing horror as a collective of incompetent senior managers failed repeatedly in even the simplest of tasks. “The ‘Water Action Plan’ that AfriForum put on the table 18 months ago, on November 26, 2013 should have been implemented within three months by their self imposed deadline, but it is a shambles,” Schultz said.
“VDM has proved conclusively that they cannot do it, so we will. It’s that simple. We are giving VDM until Wednesday, June 24 to complete full implementation of our action plan.
“The very minute that this deadline expires we will move in and do the job ourselves to ensure water security for residents of our town. We have contractors on standby and AfriForum head office is backing our actions. We are prepared to put our money where our mouths are,” Schultz concluded.
Review sent numerous SMSes and e-mails to VDM spokesperson, Matodzi Ralushai, but after two weeks, still no comment had been received.
