Double the joy for this first time dad of twin sons
"My dream came true when my sons, Levi and Liam were born" - Rev Lucian Sinclair
POLOKWANE – For most first time fathers, having a baby can be a daunting experience, more so when you are expecting twins.
But this is not true for Rev Lucian Sinclair, who recently became the father of twin boys.
“My dream came true when my sons, Levi and Liam were born. I always said that when I get married, I want twins, and here are my boys, a blessing from God. When you become a father, your life takes a complete turn. Your focus shifts from your own life to your children. When I hold them in my arms, I am filled with so much joy and peace and they make me want to be a better person. I am motivated to do more and to achieve more so I can be the perfect example for them,” says Sinclair.
He says his biggest fear is when his sons cry and he does not know what to do.
“My boys have a lot of similarities and they are in sync. When Liam starts crying, Levi will also cry. They once cried and I could not figure out what was wrong. I felt so helpless. But I then laid them on my chest and they stopped crying and I realised that they just wanted to be close to me. That was the most amazing feeling ever. I remember when they were born and the doctor gave them to me, I didn’t want to let them go for three hours until the nurses said it was time,” he says.
Asked what was the most difficult time for him as a first time father, he says: “my wife had to stay in hospital for two weeks after giving birth, that was the most difficult time. But I had support from our family and that made it easy. I enjoy every minute of being a father, even when I wake up at 03:00 in the morning to clean their nappies or feed them. I love my sons”.
Sinclair adds that every second with his children is memorable, but the most special moments are when he and his two boys have a conversation.
“I would talk to them in their own language and they would respond. Those are very special moments to me. I would like to wish all fathers a happy Father’s Day. A father is the head of the home and the key to his family’s blessings. I plead with fathers to step up and take their positions as heads of their homes and by doing so, I believe the world will become a better place.”
