Solidarity: Emergency plan for possible Eskom Blackout

An emergency plan that offers practical tips on how households can prepare in the event of no electricity for up to two weeks was launched over the weekend on Solidarity's website.

According to a press release on Solidarity’s website an emergency plan that offers practical tips on how households can prepare in the event of no electricity for up to two weeks was launched over the weekend.

Although chances for a collapse of the national grid are slim according to Eskom, we believe members of the public should consider being prepared for it to some degree says Solidarity.

The plan includes tips that range from storage of water, medicine and food supplies to using battery operated radio systems to stay in touch with family.

“The emergency plan is in the format of a back-to-back A4 document on which households can tick off progress. It is divided into measures that can be taken beforehand and those that could be taken during an outage,” according to Solidarity.
