Motorists on the R555 road warned not to stop for so-called hitch-hikers

Motorists on the R555 road to Burgersfort are advised to avoid the road or drive carefully and not to stop when people flag them down, pretending to be asking for a lift.

LIMPOPO – Motorists on the R555 road to Burgersfort are advised to avoid the road or drive carefully and not to stop when people flag them down, pretending to be asking for a lift.

This was a warning by provincial police spokesperson, Col Ronel Otto. “The R555 road to Burgersfort is  currently been blocked by a burning truck that protestors stopped and set alight,” she said.

“The road linking Burgersfort and Eerstegeluk is completely blocked with burning tyres and stones,” Otto further warned.

Otto earlier explained that the community of Mapuru village was protesting against the new road that was promised to them but had not been erected yet.
