Worst dates and whether to date

POLOKWANE – Many young people, especially teenagers, daily find themselves in situations mainly dictated by peer pressure.

One of these situations is the question of whether to get romantically involved or to rather wait until they are more mature, giving full attention to your schoolwork.

Review talks to teenagers at Curro Heuwelkruin to hear their views regarding the matter. “Do you have a girlfriend or boyfriend, do you think it is important to have one and what was your worst date?”, are just some of the questions posed.

Jacques Groenewald says he doesn’t have a girlfriend and he thinks it is important to have a girlfriend because you will have someone to share your feelings and emotions with. “My worst date was when I watched a horror movie with my girlfriend. In one part of the movie, she got such a fright, she punched me in the face by accident,” he says.

David van der Berg says he doesn’t have a girlfriend but it is important to date because you learn more about life and people through dating.

Maroli Horn also says she doesn’t have a boyfriend, but she disagrees with her peers. She says it is not important to date, but if someone wants to have a partner at a young age they should go ahead.

Wernich Kachelhoffer says he has a girlfriend and he says it is important to learn how to treat a woman well at a young age. “It is good to grow old with someone and having a partner helps you grow emotionally and mentally,” he says. He says his worst date was when he got the time of a movie wrong and in the end he and his date had to wait for a long time before the movie started.

Lizemari du Preez says she has a boyfriend and she thinks it is important, because she needs to know what kind of man she will get married to one day.

Claudi van Niekerk says that she also has a boyfriend. It is not important to date, but if you like someone, nothing should hold you back, she says.

“My worst date was when my boyfriend showed up for a date an hour late,” she says.
