LIMPOPO – IN support of Mandela Day, Munghana Lonene FM, Phalaphala FM and Thobela FM will hand-over a house to the Lishivha family of Madodonga village in Makhado today (Wednesday).
SABC Limpopo communications manager, Moses Netshitangani, said the family is made up of two unemployed people, who are both physically and mentally handicapped and lived in a dilapidated structure.
“On Friday, Munghana Lonene FM will hand-over another house to the Grobler family in the Ruanda informal settlement in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality. The following day, the station will hand over a third house in Phalaborwa, Majeje, in partnership with the Phalaborwa Rotary Club. This project will go a long way in giving relief to the Khosa family of eight, who have been living in a one-roomed shack for as long as they can remember,” said Netshitangani.
“Munghana Lonene FM vows to continue to dedicate efforts and resources to this worthy cause as they have their fair share in this global service of humanity.”
Netshitangani said on Friday, Phalaphala FM in partnership with the department of correctional services will also hand-over a house to Takalani Children’s Home in Siloam.
“On Saturday, Thobela FM will refurbish a library at Mamabolo Primary School in partnership with the provincial department of education. The following day, the station will be part of the Presbyterian Church’s Sunday service in Solomondale, where they will also donate blankets to the needy in the church,” he said.
Acting SABC Limpopo provincial general manager, James Shikwambana made a call to all to have a share in making a difference this month, saying Mandela Day was a global call to action that celebrated the idea that each individual had the power to transform the world.
“I also want to make a call to all Limpopo residents that we all have the ability to make an impact. Do something to change somebody’s life this month,” said Shikwambana.
