Bogus security guards

A group (possibly only two men) of fake security guards are currently doing the rounds in various areas of the city who attempt to gain access to houses.

POLOKWANE – A group (possibly only two men) of fake security guards are currently doing the rounds in various areas of the city who attempt to gain access to houses.

This was according to various community policing forums (CPF) in the city that had received complaints in this connection. The men are travelling in a sedan.

Last Wednesday, one of the men attempted to gain access to a home where only a young boy was at home.

According to CPF management, the man told the boy that his mother had contacted them and said there was a problem at home and they should investigate and call her back.

The boy told the man there was no problem and refused to let him enter the house.

The other fake security guard was waiting in the vehicle for his partner, who, when he failed to gain access to the home, climbed back into the care and drove away.

Polokwane police spokesperson, Capt Ntobeng Phala, urgently requested residents to be on the look out for these men and to report any incidents to the police station immediately. “Domestic workers and gardeners must be warned about this and the fact that the suspects are posing as security officers,” Phala warned.

“It’s important that people contact the police immediately if these men or any other suspicious person tries to gain access to a house.

“Suspicious people around any neighbourhood should also be reported, as they could be gathering information that could be used for committing a crime later,” he continued.

Why joining the CPF is so important
