LIMPOPO – A FAMILY house of seven in Sekgakgapeng Khalanyoni burned down during the night of July 17 and left them only with the clothes on their back.
Enny Mmatle, the owner of the house and mother of six, told Bosveld that a candle was the cause of the fire and that the flames spread faster than they could carry water to extinguish it.
“I am grateful that my children and myself were unharmed during this tragic accident, but we are only left with the clothing we wore that night,” Mmatle said.
Lesiba Mashala ward councillor of the Mogalakwena Municipality, immediately took action when he heard about this accident and arranged for a tent for the family to be used as temporary shelter, he also arranged with Red Cross for the donation of blankets and he asked Maria Papo, employee at E.H. Hassim, to ask her employees if they could lend a helping hand.
Zunaid Omar Tayob, director of E.H. Hassim, Usman Ahmed, CEO of E.H. Hassim, and Hanif Patel, yard manager, didn’t think twice to help this family and donated enough building material for two rooms. Mmatle thanked Ahmed, Patel and Tayob as well as Mashala and Papo for their help and contributions.
Mmatle said,” it would be truly appreciated if anyone could help us with any donation from clothing to food, as I am a single unemployed mother. I am thankful for the donation of the building material and would like to ask if anyone could assist with the building and the donation of building sand.” If anyone would like to make a contribution, contact Maria at 079 541 4698.
