Malema trial struck off the roll

Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) leader, Julius Malema's racketeering, fraud and corruption case has been struck off the roll.

POLOKWANE – Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) leader, Julius Malema’s racketeering, fraud and corruption case has been struck off the roll.

Malema appeared in the Polokwane magistrate’s court today, where judge Billy Motlhe ruled that it be struck off the roll, adding that the history of the case showed there had been numerous postponements.

The trial was postponed yesterday as one of the co-accused, Kagiso Dichabe was hospitalised and could not attend.

Adv Mike Hellens, representing Malema, asked the court for a separate trial for his client, stating that Malema was ready to stand trial.

Malema faced charges including  racketeering, fraud and corruption, along with his co-accused Lesiba Gwangwa and Dichabe.

Malema and his business partners  were previously accused of misrepresenting themselves to the department of roads and transport which allegedly lead to a R52 million contract being awarded to On-Point Engineering.
