The MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana has urged young women to celebrate the achievements of the heroines of the struggle with honour and respect

LIMPOPO – The MEC for Transport, Safety and Liaison, Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana has urged  young women to celebrate the achievements of the heroines of the struggle with honour and respect.

Mokaba-Phukwana spoke during the recent  annual Waterberg District Games at the Mahwelereng Stadium.

She reminded women athletes in netball and volleyball that the heroic feats of the liberation struggle were achieved through sweat, blood and death.

“As we celebrate August as Women’s Month, an important period in our country’s history, we must not forget some of South Africa’s women who went through painful struggles to ensure that this day, which is internationally recognised, is realised,” Mokaba-Phukwana said.
