Thobela FM presenter packs powerful punch
If dynamite indeed comes in small packages, then Thobela FM's morning drive show co-host, Nkgadimeng Kekana, packs a powerful punch
POLOKWANE – If dynamite indeed comes in small packages, then Thobela FM‘s morning drive show co-host, Nkgadimeng Kekana, packs a powerful punch.
The vibrant young woman hails from Lebowakgomo and has the perfect combination of brains and beauty. Kekana graduated from the Tshwane University of Technology majoring in broadcasting.
As someone who has always loved talking and being a storyteller, she co-hosts the breakfast show between 07:00 and 09:00 on Thobela FM with Sebasa Mogale. The show, titled Ditla le Meso is one of the most widely listened-to breakfast shows in the country.
As a young woman, Kekana feels a duty to be the voice of the voiceless. “I want to inspire and tell African stories,” Kekana explains.
She agrees that as a woman in the workplace, she is met with her fair share of challenges.
“As a woman you have to work harder than men in order to be heard. Another thing is that men always want to take advantage, but as a young woman, it is important to stand your ground and always remember your morals and values,” she advises.
When she is not working, she enjoys the finer things in life and loves reading and writing in her spare time. She has an interesting adoration for tea.”I have an incredible love for tea and like all different kinds of tea, especially while I’m enjoying a book.”
Kekana also wants to focus more on building a stronger profile for her company, Pamberi Productions. Part of her plan is to harness her skills as a radio presenter. She plans to venture into television, which she has done before.
Her message to young people is to always put education first.
“Go to school, find out what you want and go after it. Never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something, believe in yourself,” she concluded.
