Slasher dad undergoing psychological analysis
"As couples, we must at all costs avoid making children victims of family violence. Children must be brought up with love and care."
LIMPOPO – “As couples, we must at all costs avoid making children victims of family violence. Children must be brought up with love and care.”
These were the words of premier Stanley Mathabatha during the burial of the four children who were recently killed by their father.
The Kekana siblings, Bokang (13), Keneilwe (10), Hologelo (6) and Lekgoledi (4) were laid to rest in Zebediela on Saturday.
Lt Colonel Fanie Masemola, provincial police commissioner, said the boys’ father, Simon Lesiba Kekana has been charged with four counts of murder in court in absentia.
“He is now an accused and the case was postponed to 2 October,” said Masemola.
Following a botched suicide attempt after slitting his children’s throats, Kekana sustained critical injuries and was taken to the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital under police guard.
According to Billy Teffo, the spokesperson for the provincial department of health, Kekana was in a stable condition.
“He is currently undergoing psychological analysis to determine his state of mind in view of the gruesome murders of his own children,” added Teffo.
