LIMPOPO – Preparations are at an advanced stage for the second annual Tzaneen Agricultural Expo, which is expected to take place from 3 to 5 November this year.
This follows after emerging farmers in the Greater Tzaneen area complained that what they do on their farms is not exposed to the world and therefore the government must do something.
According to Mokgadi Nkwana, one of the organisers at the municipality, Tzaneen has proven to be the main contributor towards the economy of the country.
Nkwana was speaking during a meeting with all stakeholders in Tzaneen recently.
She said the event is organised jointly with other stakeholders like Small Enterprise Development Agency, Department of Agriculture, Mopani District Municipality, South African Logal Government Association, Greater Tzaneen Economic Development Agency and farmer’s union, Agri-Letaba.
According to Nkwana, there will also be participation from academic institutions during the expo that will guide farmers and youth on good farming practice.
“This year we decided to terminate our contract with a publicity company and organise the event on our own.”
She indicated that municipal councillors will be requested to play a role by encouraging communities from their areas to attend the expo.
