LIMPOPO – Two young men will appear in the Vuwani Magistrate’s Court on Friday facing a murder charge.
Intensive investigations by the police linked the two, aged 23 and 24, with the death of Nyambeni Mulangaphuma (36) whose lifeless body was found in his VW Polo in Ha-Mutsha village near Thohoyandou three weeks ago. Mulangaphuma was found half naked and with his throat slashed.
WO Solly Mkhola, spokesperson for the Levubu police, said they received calls from residents about a body that was found locked in the car during the night. “On our arrival, we found the corpse of a young man locked in his VW Polo vehicle.
“His throat was cut but his cell phone was still in his pocket. His upper body was half naked. We found his T-shirt full of blood near a local tavern. It looks like he was murdered outside the tavern and the killers later loaded his lifeless body into the vehicle,” Mkhola said.
“After arriving at the scene, residents started an uproar and blocked off the Punda Maria and the Khwkhwe roads. We dispersed them and all routes are now cleared,” Mkhola said.
He further said the body had been identified. “He was on his way home to see relatives from Gauteng,” Mkhola said.
“We thank the community for providing us with the information that led to the arrest of the two suspects,” Mkhola added.
