MOKOPANE – The residents affected by the neglected property that was a safe haven for criminals can breathe a sigh of relief as the Mogalakwena Municipality has started a clean-up operation in the area.
The clean-up campaign follows after a woman was attacked on Sunday morning and threatened with a knife in Taylor Street. The suspect fled into the bushes.
This attack was just the latest of numerous incidents that occurred over the last few months in this area.
Fearful residents contacted Marcelle Maritz, provincial organiser of the Freedom Front Plus, who stepped in on Tuesday after she received complaints from residents who are affected by the situation.
She said she contacted the municipality’s acting divisional head of parks, Jabu Mashamaite, to assist residents.
Mashamaite immediately agreed that this situation should be taken care of and arranged that the municipality start cleaning up the area on Thursday morning.
