Two suspected robbers were shot and injured when they allegedly attempted to rob a farmer at Laersdrift policing area near Groblersdal on Tuesday.

LIMPOPO – Two suspected robbers were shot and injured when they allegedly attempted to rob a farmer in the Laersdrift policing area near Groblersdal on Tuesday.

According to Lt Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, a group of about 12 suspects arrived on the farm in two vehicles, a white minibus and a white sedan.

They went to the farm under the pretext of wanting to buy a cow, explained Ledwaba.

“When the farmer told them that he was no longer selling livestock, one of the suspects allegedly pulled out a firearm and fired some shots in the direction of the farmer.”

The farmer manged to shoot one of the suspects in the stomach, and fled the scene on a motorbike to find help, said Ledwaba.

Police and some of the local farmers went after the attackers and a second suspect was shot when he jumped out of the vehicle.

“The two injured suspects have been admitted to hospital under police guard and the two vehicles confiscated.”

“A search for the remaining suspects is still on going.”

We ask anyone with information to contact the nearest police or to dial the police toll free number 08600 10111 concludes Ledwaba.
